Au Natural

My favorite beauty products are natural - free of the chemicals that beauty companies put in as fillers that you pay good money for. Why waste your cash on fillers that cost them nothing.

A common misconception with natural beauty products and makeup is that they don't work as well. Wellllll, let me tell you lovelies, that the shit works better! You want a product that is going to work synergistically with your body. You want to apply products that do not harm the chemical balance of your body. Because that is exactly what we all are. Without sounding too nerdy, our bodies are made up of four elements - oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen. There is a delicate balance between all of the other functions within our bodies. Sooooo, by bombarding our skin (which is the largest human organ) (and which is a direct passage to our blood stream) with foreign chemicals leads to a very toxic system.

I like to think of it this way...from the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed, make note of all the products you place on your body. For example, you get up and step into the shower and you use shampoo, conditioner, body wash or soap, face cleanser, maybe shave cream. You step out of the shower and continue with body lotion, deodorant, toner, face serum, face cream, eye cream, foundation, concealer, powder, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, lipstick, toothpaste, mouth wash...you get the idea. That's a whopping 21 products you've applied and you haven't even had breakfast yet!! Each of those 21 products have a laundry list of ingredients, all different and all essentially entering your blood stream through your skin. Ewww.

Talk about disrupting a delicate chemical balance! We are what we eat, likewise, we are what we put on your bodies. The body does not like foreign compounds and what ends up happening is it starts to affect our immune systems and our lymphatic systems. Once those systems have been compromised, we start to see inflammation, and all inflammation is is your bodies response to your immune system.

Simple math - overload your immune system = inflammation in your body, which consequentially, leads to even further problems.

So the bottom line is, you want to put clean, chemical free (as much as possible) products on to your body! If you want to take a look at a very cool website - I call it my skin bible, please visit
http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

In the search bar, you can search for any product, try for example typing in
"Jergens Lotion". It will produce a rating of 0-10 which, if you click on the product, it will list a number of ingredient concerns related to how it affects our bodies. You may just be shocked and slowly begin to understand why purchasing all natural, chemical free products is worthwhile!!

Tea Milk Skincare

I received in the mail a package full of beautiful clean face and body products. I was so excited to start using them as the smell is pretty much mind blowing. My favorite product is the Pearl and Jasmine Anti-aging Eye Cream. Seriously though, it smells so good! The main ingredient is the pearl powder which has been used for centuries by Cleopatra and Chinese Empresses. It adds instant radiance by boosting collagen levels. My eyes out end to look a little sunken and this cream smooths on easily and plumps and hydrates and allow my makeup to apply flawlessly.

The Camilla Rice Oil Anti-Aging Facial Serum has added so much moisture to my face, it's crazy! It goes on super smooth and I found a little goes a long way, which is good because it makes the product last so much longer. Some people have never tried using an oil as a moisturizer and all I have to say, is try it!! This camellia and rice oil is super fine and is instantly absorbed through your skin without feeling heavy like a cream. I can apply makeup directly over it and all day long my skin is hydrated and plump. I noticed I had a dry patch on the side of my nose that literally disappeared after using this serum!

In the shower, I put into action both the Matcha Clay Pore Minimizing Mask and the Matcha Sugar Anti-Cellulite Scrub. Whoa! What a combo! I felt like I had a mini-spa in my bathroom ;-). I love using masks in the shower as I find the steam helps to open my small pores. The Match Clay Mask totally cleansed out my pores and left my skin silky smooth,,,heaven!! From heaven, let's go to a darker place called cellulite ;-). Long story short, I've got it and have tried everything from massage to far infrared saunas to eliminate it! The Tea Milk Skincare Matcha Sugar Scrub is quite literally a miracle in a jar. The consistency is grainy so you can really feel the scrub going in deep to improve circulation, which I really love. I followed up my Anti-Cellulite Scrub with the Coconut Tea Hydrate Lotion Bar that is made with 100% organic coconut oil, soy proteins and whole tea leaves!

All of these products contain the highest grade of natural ingredients sourced ethically direct from farmers that do not use chemicals, buffers, or artificial fragrances. All of the products are affordable because they manufacture their products themselves and hand package their products with recycled materials! Impressive, right?!

Make your own face pow

I make my own face powder and I wanted to share the recipe with you. It's so simple, it works wonders, and it makes a great gift for your friends and fam.

I use only three ingredients and I definitely use organic, non-irridated sources. The base of the powder is corn starch. Yep, regular old cornstarch. The reason for using this base is quite simple; I love the fine texture, it is oil absorbing, and it has anti-microbial properties which keep the finished product fresh and long lasting.

The second and third ingredients are cocoa powder and cinnamon. With each of these, I balance the base and tone of each color to match my skin color or a friends, for example. The cocoa powder is a brown base and the cinnamon is a red base and between the two, I can adapt to suit most skin tones.

The best feedback I have received is the amazing smell when working out! When you start working up a sweat, the cocoa and cinnamon activate, and trust me, it smells amaze!! If you get the chance to make a batch, send me a note and let me know how you like it!
